Privacy Policy for the TonalPath iOS App
Effective July 14, 2026
The TonalPath iOS app does not require an account and does not send your practice progress, microphone audio, or MIDI input to TonalPath servers. It does not use advertising trackers or sell personal information.
1. Information handled by the app
The TonalPath iOS app handles the following information on your device:
- Practice information, including selected levels, exercise progress, scores, attempts, listens, and app settings.
- Optional microphone input, when you enable microphone pitch detection. Audio is analyzed on the device to detect notes. TonalPath does not record, store, or transmit microphone audio or pitch-detection audio.
- Optional MIDI input, when you connect and enable a MIDI device. MIDI notes are processed on the device for practice input and are not stored or transmitted by TonalPath.
Practice information and settings are stored locally on your device. The iOS app does not currently provide TonalPath account creation, sign-in, or progress synchronization.
2. Purchases and subscriptions
Subscriptions are purchased and managed through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes payment information and purchase transactions under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. TonalPath does not receive or store your payment-card details.
The app receives product and entitlement information from StoreKit so it can determine whether subscription features are available on the device. Apple may provide developers with sales, subscription, diagnostic, and aggregate usage information through App Store Connect in accordance with Apple's policies.
3. Support communications
If you contact TonalPath for support or privacy help, TonalPath receives the information you choose to include in your message, such as your email address, device details, app version, and description of the issue. This information is used only to respond to the request and meet applicable legal obligations.
4. Tracking and advertising
The TonalPath iOS app does not contain third-party advertising trackers, does not use information for behavioural advertising, and does not sell or rent personal information.
5. Retention and deletion
Locally stored practice information and settings remain on your device until you reset them, remove them through available device or app controls, or delete the app. Information sent in a support message is kept only as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain support records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
You can contact privacy@tonalpath.com with a privacy question or request concerning information you have sent directly to TonalPath.
6. Security
TonalPath limits collection by keeping practice and input processing on the device. Apple is responsible for the security of App Store and StoreKit services under its own policies. No system can guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The iOS app does not require children to create a TonalPath account or submit personal information to use its practice features. A parent or guardian should supervise a child's device, App Store purchases, and any communication with support.
8. Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated if the iOS app's information practices materially change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
